Adoption Update: FINALLY!!!!!!
My head is spinning right now. My wife Gaye just called and asked if I was doing anything next Wednesday. I said I think I'm going to be at the WMHK booth at the SC State Fair. She nonchalantly said "oh well I was just wondering...." and then what she said after that was completely incoherent. A lot of screaming. Screams of joy. The only word I was able to make out was Haiti. When she calmed down she told me that Meyer's visa had come in. We'll be going to get him most likely on Wednesday. It's real. I've been walking around a little dazed since then. When I can get my act together and express myself better I will write another post. After three years of working, waiting, and praying. Our son is coming home.

My husband and I are so happy for you and your family, Steve. We too are adoptive parents; we adopted a little girl from Guatemala. We became a forever family last year on November 13th. Our daughter was only 10 months old when we finalized the adoption. Our process paperwork included only took a year, but it had seemed like forever going through that adoption process. I can't even begin to imagine what a 3 year process is like! We will pray for a safe trip to and from Haiti for you all.

That is truly amazing!! I hope the 3 year wait is just the start of something much much more for your family and new found happieness!! I will pray for you as you make that trip. May the Lord Bless You!
I am just so excited for you all. I've heard you talking about Meyer during the morning shows and it brings tears to my eyes every time. I just wanted you to know that my family will be praying for yours during this wonderful time. I can't wait to hear all about it when you get back.
Hi Steve! I am SOO happy for your family! I know you guys have waited a long time for this. I will be praying for everything! I miss hanging out at WMHK..that is one of the things I miss most since graduating! Tell Amy I said hi!
Dear Sunshine Family-
God has placed you in a place of love, understanding, and peace. Thank you for sharing your very personal story and allowing us to join in this journey with you. You are all in my prayers as you continue on your journey to welcome your son into this new place. Safe Journey to you all, may God continue to bless you and all that your life, work and words touch. GODSPEED!
I am Steve's mother and reading the comments made me very happy and teary eyed. I am so glad our grandson is finally coming home to all of us. Gaye had showed me some photgraphs of Meyer and I said he is a winner go for it. Camille calls me Baboo and so will Meyer. God I am so happy I can't seem to get all the words to describe all of my feelings.
Thank God for the gift of patience and for the gift of Meyer to your family! Steve - you are a gift to us in the Columbia area that listen every day and have lived on with you waiting for this day to come true. Now we can't wait to hear stories of what life with Meyer as well as Camille is really like. I am sure most of us families that have lived thru adoption felt your pain in waiting. I have to wonder if you ever felt "what if he doesn't like me?". With babies it doesn't really come up- but with Meyer- a young man already- did you ever wonder that? Not that he could resist your family- you are all great! Can't wait to hear all about it and THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING! The Nelson family
